Every person in our firm speaks English, including secretaries and interns.  Therefore we expect that you are fluent in at least Chinese and English, both orally and in writing.  Speaking Japanese or German is strongly desirable, but not mandatory.

A selection committee consisting of partners and staff members will review and evaluate your application.  Qualified candidates will be invited to a test of English proficiency and an interview with the committee members in person.  The interview will be conducted in both Chinese and English and may include two or three rounds.  If you pass the interview, you will be requested to provide one or two recommendation letters from your previous employers.  Successful candidates will receive a formal offer in writing, and you will have a time period of about one week to decide if you wish to accept it.

Position 1: Chinese patent attorney in biotech and medicine


Location: Beijing, China
 
Responsibility:
1. Drafting and prosecuting Chinese, PCT and foreign patent applications;
2. Translation of patent documents (between Chinese and English);
3. Reporting, commenting on and preparing a reply to office action;
4. Patent invalidation, litigation, third party observation and licensing;
5. Opinion work on patentability and FTO;
 
Qualification:
1. Master or doctorate degree in biotech, pharmaceutical or medicine obtained from a world leading university or research institute (research experience in industry strongly preferred);
2. Excellent English proficiency (both orally and in writing; overseas study experience preferred);
3. Admitted to practice before the SIPO;

4. Chinese bar admission preferred, but not mandatory;
5. At least three years' experience in practicing Chinese, US or European patent law;

6. Experience in patent litigation and licensing preferred;

7. Working experience in an international law firm preferred.

Position 2: Chinese patent attorney in electronics


Location: Beijing, China

5. At least five years' experience in practicing Chinese patent law;

6. Experience in patent litigation and licensing preferred;

7. Working experience in an international law firm preferred.

Position 3: Patent secretary


Location: Beijing, China
 
Responsibility:
1. Filing, prosecuting and managing Chinese, PCT and foreign patent applications;
2. Deadline watching;
3. Fee payment and management;

4. Assisting patent attorneys in formality issues.
 
Qualification:
1. Bachelor's degree (background in law, English or engineering preferred);
2. Excellent English proficiency (both orally and in writing);
3. At least three years' experience in a patent firm;

4. Working experience in an international law firm preferred.

Position 4: Part time English teacher


Location: Beijing, China 
 
Responsibility:

1.  Helping attorneys and secretaries improve their oral English;

2.  Reviewing and revising documents, letters and emails in English.


Qualification:
1.  Native English Speaker;
2.  Bachelor's degree or above from a decent university; 
3.  Experience working in a law firm preferred;
4.  Chinese Speaking preferred, but not mandatory.
